Hi everyone! I'm new to these forums and I'm very eager to get to know everyone. My name is Mandy and I'm a whale enthusiast and quickly becoming a photography enthusiast. I currently have a Digital Rebel which I put to good use almost weekly on local whale watches. These photos are the types of photos that you'll be seeing from me most of the time, although I will ocassionally post something different. :)

These photos were taken on a whale watch off the coast of New Hampshire on May 15, 2005. The first photos is a lunge feeding Humpback Whale and the last photo is a lunge feeding Fin Whale. Hope you enjoy!!

Welcome to the forum, Mandy. Your whale shots are spectacular, and I'm looking forward to seeing more. I need to do more whale watching.

Great pictures Mandy! Where do you go whale watching from? I live in NH too. I used to go with the Isle of Shoals Steamship Co out of Portsmouth, but the last I checked, they haven't been going. The last whale watch I went on was from Rye Harbor. I haven't been in a couple of years, but would love to go again. These are fantastic pictures and really makes me want to get back out there!

I'll look forward to your posts!

Thank you Sparker! You can view more of my photos on my personal website (www.whalesightings.com) if you're interested. :)

BeccaNH - I've been going out of Rye, NH (Granite State Whale Watch) for a few of years now. They're a great group of people and it's always a great time. Even when the whales are scarce there are plenty of birds to photograph, plus just being out on the ocean is so relaxing in itself! You should definitely give it another go! :)

Mandy,

I have just looked at your sight and all I can say again is WOW!..You have so many spectacular photos. Your sight looks fantastic. I love boats and the water (we only have a little boat). We try to get out on it as often as possible and agree with you about it being the best. I am praying one day I will be lucky enough to see a whale :)

Mandy, I just viewed your website, very cool! Now I see just how much of an enthusiast that you are!!! That is soo cool to be able to view them so often and get to knwo them by name.

Since I did not see any Orcas on your site, here are a couple from the "left coast"!

Mandy, you have inspired me! I just made a reservation for a whale watch this Saturday. Hopefully we will have some good sightings. Keep your fingers crossed for me, and if I get any good shots, I'll post them here!

Good for you BeccaNH! With the way things have been out there lately, you won't be disappointed! I hoep you get to see a Humpback since they're famous for lifting their tails up and out of the water. I'd really love to see any of the photos that you get. :)

Good luck!!

PS. Are you going out on the Granite State?

Mandy, nice pics and nice site you have there.

I missed the migration here in SoCal, but there's always next year.

Mandy, yes, I took your suggestion and booked with Granite State. I've also sent an email invite to my photography group to see if anyone one else might be interested in joining me. I read the posts on your website and it looks like there have been some great sightings lately. Its been way too long since I got out there with the whales and I'm really looking forward to it!

Best of luck to you Becca! I normally try to get out there every weekend, but I don't think I'll make it this weekend. :( Hopefully you have a great time! I can't imagine a better subject to take photos of. :)
