Hi there,
I just got a 580Ex to use on a G3. Everything is working as it should except for the auto focus assist beam from the 580EX. Does anyone know why this is happening?
Thanks for all your help,
Flashster Mac.

None of the other EX series flashes do either with the G3, if I recall correctly.

Like was previously mentioned, the IR light does not function with the G series cameras.

My 580EX works fine with my XT (350D). When the light is low, I see those red bars just fine! Works on my father's 20D too.

Check you're not in AI servo, and check that the red beam isn't disabled with the custom function.

i would just put it in manual or Av one shot mode, and try it then.
