Cool series! I've seen video of Falconry(sp?) up in the Northwest US on a grouse hunt. Needless to say it was one of the most impressive things I've ever seen.

Thank you Zach! I appreciate your response!
Yes, they are so impressive! This one was, according to the speaker, a "poor" hunter. So the zoo trained him to chase those dummies for the show.

They are just plain amazing.

Beautiful Peregrine... great shots. There really isn't such a thing as a "poor hunter" when it comes to predators on that level, unless an injury was involved. That's where zoos and rehabbers get most of their "demo" birds. She doesn't look like she was having too much of a problem with the lure, although the slack in the line indicates it was "served up" for her on this pass. I assume they made her work a bit for it first?

I used to hunt rabbits and pheasants with Red-Tailed hawks when I was in HS and college. Real life hasn't permitted me the time for that lately, but I miss it bad, especially seeing shots like this. Hawks are a different side of falconry, but they're all amazing creatures.

Thanks for sharing...
Joe

Thanks for the comments Joe. Yes, he had her(?) run a couple passes first. After she got the lure, he gave her some meat from his hand.

This page and the previous one has some more pics. I think same bird different dates.
