Well its time for another camera body. I currently have a 10D and am looking at getting either a new 20D or a 1D. What do you all think of the 1D??? The camera will be used mainly for sport that is one of the reasons that the 1D is an option.

I recently moved from a DRebel to a well-used 1D. Most often question I get is do I miss the loss of MP. One word: NO!! The sensor on this beast is bigger and resolves more info than the DRebel sensor. Everything else about it is much much better than any consumer-grade DSLR. If you will be shooting sports, the 1D is the best (well maybe the MarkII is better!). 8 FPS and since the files are not as big, write times are very short. AF is amazingly fast and accurate. I have nothing but praise for this camera. Beware though that once you go to a 1 series camera, there is no going back!!!:) Good luck with your decision!

A bit like going from standard Canon lenses to "L" lenses. :) Do you think that the 1D has good image quality and takes sharp images??

This thread is also interesting to me. I've been considering a 1D and using my 300D as a backup.

Would the photos blown up (8x10 or maybe 11x16) look roughly the same because of the better sensor?

I find the image quality on par or better than the DRebel. Even with less MP, the resolving power on the 1D sensor is unsurpassed. I just had 11 X 14 prints done for my shop and they look great!! No pixelation.....just beautiful colour and sharpness. I can wax ecstatic about the the 1D but I am sure you would be more than satisfied going from a 10D
