I normally take photos of my son, but I'm wanting to try a little of the 'Landscape' thing. Please tell me what you think and what I may do to improve. I think these are a vast improvement on my last effort!

Nice shots, I would try and get the first shot at the hyperfocal distance so you get the entire shot in focus.

I love the composition on both, but think a smaller aperture would improve DOF :)

I was thinking more DOF would make the pic too 'busy'?

I think the second shot needs more DOF. The foreground branches have merged into the background blur.

The first shot I like as is. Nice composition and, for me, the DOF is just right. A bit busy on the upper left and lower right. But you would have to do a bit of gardening to sort that out.

How about this shot?

Mal,
First shot doesn't hold a lot of interest for me. There just isn't enough impact to attract the eye no matter what the DOF was.

Second shot is interesting. I would like that more if the DOF were better. There seems to be enough going on in the background that adding crispness wouldn't hurt the photo.

I really like your sunset picture. Don't know how I missed that.
