I need help and advice, just started to work with RAW images, as a happy owner of G6 (everybody say that RAW is cool, so I am trying now to get everything only in RAW format).
After downloading them to my computer (still using ACDSee 7 but soon have latest Photoshop) I have RAW images and smaller jpeg preview with exif data with .thm extension.
You could notice that preview is more balanced with vivid colours and also white balance is good.
Interesting, that the picture of Lamp I did with Tungsten WB setting, and this was OK on camera LSD - and now I have totally disbalanced RAW image!
Is this OK? I have always do it manually?
The same problem with flower.

What I have done wrong?

Thank you very much

You haven't done anything wrong. The THM file is processed by your camera like a JPG file would be. The CRW preview that you're seeing in ACDSee is not processed using the camera settings; its just quickly processed by the software to give you an idea of what the photo looks like. You can convert your RAW files to look like your THM files by using the "camera settings" in your converter.

Oh, thank you!
It means that the software takes information from preview and will change RAW settings to a normal one? And I think it could be done ("camera settings") only with Canon software supplied with a camera? This is a problem. I gave up trying to installed it, twain driver does not want to install in my computer so now downloading picture using PMCA CF adapter.

Cold it be done with other software? I did not find any think like "camera settings" in ACDSee software.

Thank you very much

Somehow I managed to installed ZoomBrowser without G6 twain driver, now I see what it means.
I do not see now preview images - and see only RAW with correct settings, everything is OK, only one thing wrong, with my troubled installation, I could not process it, just look at them, not much.

Going to install newest Photoshop SC2 it called? Who know, does it can do the same as ZoomBrower does? I mean to apply image settings to RAW image so it could look with right colour, contrast and other settings?

...so it could look with right colour, contrast and other settings? Andrey, keep in mind that the "right" settings aren't always the "correct" settings to make a pic look the best. You need to take control of how it looks to suit what you're trying to show.
CS should do that, but I have a preference for RSE. ;-)

Yes! That's what I need! Works perfectly. No previews, just shots with good exposure.
Thank you very much!

And I understand that "right" setting not always right, but anyway, it's easer now to do a correction with that kind of picture, more difficult for me to do work with totaly unbalanced - which I have got before usind ACDSee.

Cheers!
