hello everyone,

I am all new to this and would like someone to take the image of my son and see what can be done to it. I would just like to see what the difference from the original image out of the camera and what some of these professionals here can do with it. I am excited and can't wait to learn more about my camera and using my computer to make it even look better. Thanks in advance !!

and I think sometimes less is better. All I did was do a tighter crop and find this to be a really compelling photo of your son.

I liked the original, and just added a little contrast, lightened his left (from his point of view) eye, and sharpened the image a little.

I think the original is best, with maybe just a tad shadow adjustment, but this monitor is uncalibrated and dark

Here's a shot at your second image. I cropped it a little, then used levels to set the white and black points in the image and a curves adjustment to add contrast.

STSVA,

what are some of your methods of sharpening an image?

STSVA,

what are some of your methods of sharpening an image?

I normally use Photoshop CS3 for editing, and apply a little sharpening in Adobe Camera Raw, then use the Photoshop "smart sharpen" filter. I'm not nearly as sophisticated on sharpening (or other post processing techniques) as some of the POTN folks.
