A couple of years ago I had problems with several of the functions on my S30 and sent it off to the factory. They quoted a nasty price to look at it, so I invested, instead, in a S50. The S30 has been sitting in a drawer and someone recently looked at it and noted that the "set" button does not function, so only those functions that require finishing up with this button are not working. Otherwise the camera works well. This puts a different light on it, as the problem does not seem to be a faulty electronic board (as I originally supposed) but could simply be a poor contact on this button. Has anyone taken a camera like this apart to examine a button contact?
