thats a class photo..... I've tried many times to get a decent shot of a bird in flight... but all the birds around here are pretty small (unless you count the seagulls and crows, but who wants to photograph those dirty flying rats)....

Amazing! Wish I could do take a shot like that. In general, what's the slowest shutter speed to use to capture birds in flight? And do you set AI servo, AI focus, or one shot?

Very nice, close and great details. How much crop? Was this shot with a Sigma lens on the 20D?

Awesome shot!
Any post processing involved? Something about is looks sort of sureal, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe just the resizing.

Thanks to all of you for your very kind comments. EXIF is as follows:
1/1250 sec
f/5.6
ISO 400
400mm - Canon 70-200mm L with Canon 2x TC
sports mode (uses AI Servo)

I did have to crop this slightly because I was on my boat at the time and the rocking of the waves made for a misframe. Postprocessing was mainly cropping with a small degree of USM because of the 2x TC. I usually use Aperture mode, but found out that sports mode works very well for in flight shots.

Hope this helps. -Rick
