Question, how much bigger is the F2.8 IS version of this lens in relation to the F4 version?
I am going to be renting a 70-200 F2.8 IS for a weekend and I am wondering if it will fit in my camera bag where I currently have my 70-200 F4L, or is it MUCH bigger?

I don't think it is any longer.. well not significantly. Just fatter and a lot heavier.

Not too worry about the size.....if you can fit your F4 in your camera bag, you'll be able to fit the F2.8 in there as well.........as mentioned above, just significantly heavier and larger in diameter. Are you renting from Camera Canada? Did you know that they are trying to sell a 200F1.8; maybe they'll rent you that instead!!! Then you'll need a new camera bag for sure........

The tripod mount on the IS version comes off correct? I'm considering this lense but will mostly be shooting handheld (which is why I need the IS).
