So, in comparing the XT and the 20D, I've noticed something interesting...

Currently, the 20D is EXACTLY 50.00% more expensive than the XT (source: B&H, assumptions: all rebates recieved)

Talk about OBVIOUS market based pricing! If one were to trend this out, a new semi-pro model would street for about $1843 after rebates. Given the closeness to the big 2k mark, I am going on record that Canon's semi-pro gap will be filled with a $1999 street price offerring (after its been on the market long enough for rebates)

Canon will then continue to beef up the Rebel line and eliminate the XXD family completely.

This is just a few years of marketing research talking. I also love pot stirring...

Ok 1DsMKII is around $8K and the 1DMKII is around $4.5K and the 20D is around $1.4K and the XT is around $0.9K now how did you come to the conclusion that Canon will eliminate the XXD family by introducing a Semi-Pro $2K Rebel. The Rebel line is a comsumer level DSLR and the 20D is a Step up from there and the next level is the MKII, Pro-level. It just make sense eliminate a level that is selling very well. I own a rebel and tried the XT and it isn't for me. My next camera will be the 1D Family or the 20D it is just the logical step.
