Bob Mould playing Husker Du songs w/ No Age? Sounds good to me. Tons of fun.

Flaming Lips headlined, and i'd not seen them since the Ronald Jones era, circa '95 or so. in that time, they've carved out a carnival show complete w/ hamster balls, three tons of confetti, dancing animal volunteers and more. it was over the top, and a lot of fun.

3 and 4 are my picks although I've seen a lot of shots similar to #4. It seems that is one of their trademark moments.

Hey Tim! I just saw the lips at Lupo's the other night, and thought to myself it must be a fantastic experience to get to shoot them. It was my first time seeing them live, and it was quite the show. There was pretty much constantly crazy sh*t happening the entire time. I did a forum search for the lips, and you apparently are the only one who has got to shoot them. Do you remember if it was a particularly hard show to shoot? They had crazy/changing lighting the whole time. Also, did you get more than 3 songs? If not, it almost would be a shame, there were so many great photo ops throughout the night. You did a great job of capturing the mood here.

I checked out the other pics on your zenfolio site. Bob Mould has a picture of someone taped to his Epiphone guitar. Any idea who it is?
Great pictures.

hey, thanks for the comments and sorry for the delay. was out on vacation and then traveled out to Ohio...i'll do my best to answer your questions.
yep, the show is an unadulterated circus. stuff going on all the time. unfortunately for me, it was the last show of a 3 day weekend, and after shooting ~20+ bands and carrying around my bag across two rooms, neither of which had a photo pit, i was exhausted and pretty much just shot from one spot...too tired to try to move to the packed floor and get some different shots. plus, i'm short.
we could shoot the whole show but like i said there was no pit and the room was jammed. luckily there were 2-3 tiered levels so i could get some decently unobstructed shots from where i was.
i think that Mary shot 'em last year @ Bank of America Pavilion, and I know Rich (90c4) just shot them at Nateva, so maybe some of his shots will show up soon.

thanks! you know, i was trying to get a better look at that to see who it was, and I couldn't. btw, that's not Bob, it's Randy Randall of No Age.
WHERE'S THE NO AGE DRUMMER?
i didn't own a 16-35 at the time, so i couldn't take a really wide angle shot to get 'em all in. there was no photo pit at this stage and i was stuck where i was, having blown off crystal castles in the main room to get a spot @ the rail. that said, i did get a few shots of Dean by himself, and here's one:

Yeah, I haven't been too good at posting shots here. I have a gallery of my Lips shots on my facebook concert photography page - http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=188334&id=352944633212&ref=mf
They were a lot of fun to shoot and very easy - plenty of light and tons of stuff to shoot.
