I am thinking of purchasing this lens. Does anyone have first had (not read it in a review) experience with this lens?
I just need a little more reach that my 28-135 IS USM gives me.
Thanks

There are several good threads in this forum about the 75-300 IS lens. Do a quick search and you'll find lots of good info...

I have the lens, and I personally really like my copy. But I think I'm the only one.
The AF speed is a tad slower but the IS is the same as your current lens, for $400 I don't think you can find a better 300mm reach tele. I've done many crisp pictures with my copy, a mono-pod and the IS can do wonders for crisp shots, at least for me. My copy even works on my sunpak cheap tripod from time to time. I need IS on the 300mm side.
I've had great shots at races too with the IS off too.

Yes, the problem is that most people who post have never owned or used the lens, only having read some else’s review. That is what I get when I try a search. Not sure how one can post a review of anything based on some else’s review. Thanks

MrChad,
I appreciate the info. I am seriously considering this one and the 100-300. I tried a Sigma lens, but there were some comunication issues with the 350D.
Thanks

Before you buy, read the reviews here:

I had one myself and found the reviews describing it as a solid, middle-of-the-road lens were accurate.
...lots of better glass out there if you don't have to have IS.
