yay.

I have a cat hair stuck inside my 50mm 1.8 II lens.

Is it worth it to get it serviced, or do I just go buy another one?

Thanks.

just a thought but can you not use static to move it ,as in when you rub a bloon and hold it above someones head it lifs the hair .

take it as an opportunity to upgrade to the 50mm 1.4.

ditch the cat. get a dog.

Given that the lens was only $70-80, you might consider disassembling it yourself and cleaning it. The worst that can happen is that you'll have to replace it.

Canon will want more than the price of the lens to clean it, I'm sure.

Interesting approach. I'll try this first.

I'd love to, but I will probably have to start making alimony payments as a result.

That's what I figured. Guess I'll try it after gyrob's idea.

Thanks.

Nah...just do what I did...get Devon Rex's...they don't shed or have a lot of hair to shed for that matter anyways!

How did the hair get in there?

How do you know it's a cat hair. Is it short and curly? You can love your lenses too much you know!

No! don't ditch the cat, I think you should have it serviced (I am sure the cat will enjoy it)

Just leave it. Nothing will happen, your images will not suffer.

Do nothing at all and use the lens exclusively for cat pictures. An extra hair or two will make no difference then.:):)

If it is a very thin hair then it will not show up in your final images as it will be too close to the sensor. If it really bothers you, buy another one or as other folks have suggested, upgrade to the F/1.4

Is the hair visible in the images?

If not, it's no big deal.

Best regards,

I'd just get rid of the cat. :)

Well, looks like the cat will survive another day.

The hair does not show up in any of the test pictures.

Thanks for the suggestions.
