Interesting how low Nikon is. My money says its because they have 12 mp as their highest resolution. If they'd go up in resolution and admit Canon had it right by offering higher mp's. They'd be right up there with Canon.

Over what time period were these statistics drawn?

I'm hoping to up to the 7d in the coming future, add another one to the list. I plan on keeping my xsi as a 2nd body and one for my 14yo son to shoot.

I too am surprised on Nikons rank, it used to be all I would own until I found the functionality and layout on Canon's suited me more.

I have no idea over what time period, click on the link.

I don't think that is based on any data other than good selling cameras that the site admin wants to feature. Looking at Amazon's best seller list, compacts are the top 3 - which is not surprising:

According to this site, the 7D is pretty far down on the list even for just SLR sales:

7D is at the top of the list today. It doesn't seem like they would have any real statistics behind the OP's link. The 43rumers site seems to be more reliable. It would seem logical that the rebel will always outsell the higher lines because it appeals more to entry level customers.

Nikon's compacts are a joke. They used to have some exceptonal, well-built and innovative high-end compacts around '03-'06 but that market yielded to the entry level DSLR market. I'm glad Canon has kept the G series alive and now revamped the S series. Panasonic is providing some good competition to Canon in the compact arena now.

I used to love Nikon compacts, before I got into DSLRs.
