i stumbled across a car show walking through the park the other day...nothing special but thought i would share. i had no tripod or polorizer filter so there is all kinds of blown out highlights and not the aperature i would have chosen with most of them. either way, thought someone might appreciate some hot cars.
all i could get for info form the owner was that he 're-assembled' it in 10 days in toronto. i think he was annoyed by the time i got there as he left shortly afterward.

WHAT? A ROUSH engine in a Cobra? Nothing special? ;)
That 64 Volvo is GREAT! I like the tricked out six banger it has in it. :D
As Frank said; You've come to the right place.

I may be mistaken, but I only count four on the Volvo engine Bruce. Is that a P1800?
And yeah, who wouldn't want a Cobra with just a Roush 427 powerplant?
Nice shots Rich!

yeah that cobra was something special, i meant more the shots were not something special i guess. i think i spotted the cobra from about a block and a half away. tunnel vision set in and i bee-lined for it. it really was a shame that the owner was in such a foul mood because i would have liked to talk to him.
that volvo owner on the other hand was as excited to talk to me as i was him i think. he did a ground up rebuild and pulled out the photo book. he did a really nice job on it. it looked amazing considering the build was in 02 and the car had about 20,000 miles on it since then. that's right, 20k miles! i love when built cars get driven. he takes it to all kinds of historic events with volvo clubs and what not. he is from pennsylvania and drove it up to ontario for the summer this year. i guess it will be here until the end of summer when he heads back home and hits up a big volvo meet at watkins glen on the way. i am going to contact the owner and hopefully get to do a full photo shoot with the car before he heads home.
only 1 thing...i only count 4 spark plugs ;) *edit haha just got in a little late with that

Actually, it's a pretty healthy looking four banger.he said it was putting out 170 horse. im assuming he meant crank and i don't know if that is a dyno number or if he was just estimating.

Jody, my apologies for getting your name wrong. I have no idea where I came up with the name of Rich. So. . . . nice shots Jody! :D
That's a pretty big number from a four banger, but I guess it's possible. I'm thinking the stock engines were doing something like 130 hp in the mid 60's. . . .and that's just from somewhere in my old brain. . . . probably not very reliable.

as for the horsepower number, yeah i thought it was kind of high too so i inquired. the engine has a 12.5:1 compression ratio and will only run on sunoco super 94 with an additive to get it up to about 100 octane to avoid any knock/pinging. so with a set of webbers and that high a compression ratio i guess i could see it with a little bit of spunk added here and there. im sure it moves it along nicely, what do those weigh 2600ish lbs?

Actually, I did a little research to check my figures. The 130 hp engine didn't come out until 1970. Prior to that, I believe it was around 118. Hey, these guys work real hard to boost up the horses, and I don't doubt the 170 hp numbers. I am partial to the older Volvo's. I'm sure this was a nice one. Thanks again for posting the pics.

Really nice shots Jody, I love the fourth shot with the blower.......what's it in? For the life of me it looks like the rear of a Volkswagon!! Nobody's that crazy are they?? I also like the way you've chosen detail over complete frame and very nicely exposed too,
Roger.

I love the fourth shot with the blower.......what's it in? Maybe a Willys? That's a pretty big number from a four banger, but I guess it's possible. Just picking nits here, but Offenhauser? ;) I may be mistaken, but I only count four on the Volvo engine Bruce. :D:D We're going to revoke Bruce's gearhead status! :D For the life of me it looks like the rear of a Volkswagon!! Nobody's that crazy are they?? Stick around awhile! On the theory that there's no substitute for cubic inches, here's a Sprite from last lear...

Roger.thanx roger. i wish i knew what that fourth shot was of, i did take one profile shot, but got bumped as it was fired and came out terrible. needless to say it's gone and gone, sorry. i wasn't really documenting the event so i didn't bother keeping any garbage shots for identification purposes. it was definately not in the back of a volkswagen...ima watercooled VW guy myself and would have remebered it being in a dub even if it was an aircooled body. but yes people are that crazy...i've seen a 350 in a 85 4 door jetta. i've driven a northstar v8 powered 86 golf...pure madness. not to mention the guy on one of our mailing lists with a twin engine 88 scirocco that weighs in at around 2700lbs, 50/50 weight balance, and about 250hp total between the two engines.
you know at these types of shows it is damn near impossible to get any kind of shot with a background so thats why i went with the tight framing, plus i figured there was some real gear heads that would rather see the details of the build instead of a body they have seen before...i know i would.

On the theory that there's no substitute for cubic inches, here's a Sprite from last lear...i think the term is 'there is no replacement for displacement' but i won't hold it against ya ;) and that shot ^^^ looks absolutely scary...basically a go kart with an engine that big...mmmmmmmm
