I'm sure I looked like a total freak, standing in their front yard....

I'll try this again, next time I won't chop my feet off. I may try to use my cat, too. Let me know what you think.

Neat! Landscape painting with flash? Long exposures? I love any kind of experimentation with photos/flash, etc. And I think I want to see your next effort...

Thanks, CDS and Dave. I'm thinking of coming in wider, and shooting straight on to the house. I should probably wear something better than my pj's. Any ideas on a pose? It looks like I'm "surrendering" to the moon here. Maybe that works. I'm trying to exagerrate the brightness of the moon, like perhaps something is serious wrong. So maybe something that portrays panic to the viewer would work. Any ideas?

Fantastic shot, well executed.......for the next shot you could try being on your knees saluting the moon, that would sure give the neighbours a fright.
Roger.

Roger.I had a similar idea, where I would genuflect, but it seemed a little too weird. The salute might work from a different angle, if I can catch the flag hanging from their front door. It's behind the tree at this angle.

:D:D I was taking some flash test shots of a house 150' away & they were looking to see what (nothing) I was shooting, so I'm sure that they were thinking the same thing! ;) Interesting idea! Keep at it! (I don't want to be the only weird guy around here!) :D

I like ya, Frank, but I don't want to be cell buddies, yet!

One thing you do not have to fear is being the only weird guy around. When all else fails, I'll stand up.....I will be trying some of this with the grand kids while on vacation next week. They live away from the city lites so we can control the lighting with the flash only - I hope.

And a suggestion - there should be more than one of you in the picture..

And a suggestion - there should be more than one of you in the picture..:lol:I thought the same. I will have to go to a bulb exposure for that. I had to use the timer delay to give me time to run across the street and pose. I counted to 20, and jumped out of the frame, hence the transparent effect. FYI, here are the settings so you can get a starting point, I used ISO 100, f/11, 30 sec. exposure using a Tamron 28-300 at 42mm. I was in Av, and used fill flash. I live in the city, so even though the moon was bright, I'm sure there was some ambiant "city light." You will be posting your results, right?
