Anyone running Windows XP Service Pack 1 having a problem with their firewire connection to the camera?
My 1Ds connects, I can change personal settings and I can see the images on the CF card in the camera. However, every time I try to upload and image from the camera, the transfer starts, then the progress bar stops moving and then the camera and the Canon program (FileViewer or Zoombrowser) hangs. I have to reboot the computer and remove the battery from the camera to get everything working again.
When I take the CF card from the camera and place it in a USB2 cardreader, the images transfer with no problem and I can use the Canon software with no problem.
There are so many suspects (Canon drivers, firewire cable to the camera, firewire card in the computer, firewire card drivers in XPSP1, conflicts with other devices, etc) that I thought I'd see if anyone else can get image transfers from the 1Ds to an XPSP1 computer before I start buying cables and cards to try to isolate the problem.
