Let's not forget...
Three magazines that are famous for their photography -
National Geographic, Sports Illustrated, Playboy.
NG sometimes includes interesting information about how a certain shot was taken.
They won't teach you how to make better pictures, but they might provide some inpiration or spark some ideas.

I really like Photolife, Aperture, B&W, Nueva Luz but I usually pick up what interests me at the moment on the newstand.
I agree with Curtis N only about National Geography.
Non-Photog magazine (if you wanna know) Somerset Studio, Bark, HOW, ART...News/Forum/Nexus, Sketchbook Artist...plus.
I could spend hours and a fortune at the newstand. :D

I subscribe to Photolife, Digital Photo Pro, Nature Photographer and a couple of magazines dedicated to photoshop. I find the British published magazines to the best out there and normally just buy them at the newstand. They are expensive but well worth the money in my opinion. I have given up on Pop Photo and Petersons. I find their quality to be substandard to the other ones that I buy.
