Hello! :)

New to this BB.

Figured this was as good a place as any to ask this question or get your opinions since it regards a macro lens.

Would you feel comfortable buying a good macro lens from Ebay? 100% rating and fairly high numbers to back it up (in the hundreds). Lens appears to be in very good condition and is 150 less than new. Its a Sigma lens, and from what I have read warranty is not transferable, which really is my only sticking point in purchasing it.

Thanks
Paul

Can you tell us the specific lens so we can give a suggestion on whether it is a good investment?

That is gonna be a nice lens. I have no experience with it, but I love my Sigma 105mm Macro =)

Seller rating is an important fact.
I am a big Ebayer and when I sell stuff on Ebay, PayPal, an Ebay company, holds money for three days.
If buyer dispute the charge or purchase, PayPal will give you money right away.
I would not worry about it.
My personal opinion though.
Hope this helps. ^^

Thanks, the one thing that is bothering me is the fact Sigma does not transfer the warranty. As with any lens some have issues.....is this one of them?

I will probably dwell on this and then it will get sold on Ebay then purchase for 150 more, LOL.

I have bought a two Sigma lenses used and the lack of warranty does not bother me at all.

I am close to getting it. The money saved could go towards a UV and tripod plate and still have a few bucks leftover from new price. Like I said the only thing holding me back is warranty.....

I have been stashing cash for a 7D purchase in the future and would use some of that cash instead. Shooting a Xsi and its a good camera! Just itching for that 7d with all its features ;)

I did it!

The buyer has a 7 day return policy and its covered with paypal purchase.

The reviews are great on the lens, comparable to L glass per some of the review writers. I really wanted a real macro lens, and this fits the bill. I have a 28mm sigma and very very pleased with what it does, so I am comfortable with Sigma.

FWIW I also own a 70-200 2.8 tamron, which I like and a 17-40 Canon L for landscape which is also a sweet lens. This will be a nice addition. The close focal length and 1:1 I am really looking forward to doing some fun macro

Says I will have it Tuesday!

I'll have the lens before I get a UV for it, LOL.
