Top is a JPEG, bottom is a PNG. For some reason, whenever I upload a PNG to ANY host, it gets darkened slightly. Any ideas why? Has anyone else noticed this? Not really a problem (in the example above I actually prefer the PNG!), but I'd just like to know why this is so.

Thanks for any help!

Nope, nothing wrong or different.... YOU have issues with them. It's a color management issue on your end. Check out Rene's links and you'll be able to fix it.

EDIT: And I'm with titus213 on this one, creepy photos... but damn cool looking. Wouldn't be surprised if the colors are real though, my father has the same type of color, and it's one of the cooler one since it will change color depending on other conditions (lighting, clothing, even temperament)

Oh, there's something wrong with them for sure. They are creepy!

Color wise they look fine - and the same.

Lol, thanks! :p The colours are effectively real (both are from different people by the way; my parents), but both photographs are massively edited and colours are dramatically enhanced:

Are you sure they're the same? I'm on a laptop now, and they're definately slightly different lightnesses still. Copy and paste them into an editing program, Paint even, layer them over each other and flick between them - you should be able to see that one is darker. If not, then I apologise, I don't know what's happening here!

They are the same on a calibrated monitor. Like Basroil said, the problem is with the colour managment of your display.

Problem is browser dependent and a png issue: http://hsivonen.iki.fi/png-gamma/

Safari will show a difference. FF3 won't.
