Request for picture

This one caught me off guard. I got an email today from someone I don't know.

The message was very simple "how can i get my picture?"

After thinking about it, I had no idea who this may be so I sent a reply.

"Hello. Can you be more specific? I'm not sure what picture you are talking about."

Since I have taken thousands of high school sports photos this season (several sports both boys and girls) which are on several websites, I had no idea who the person was or what picture was in question.

So far, no reply.

Tonight, I decided to search Google, and lo and behold, I found him. He plays basketball for a Dallas team that was in the Texas Jamboree in Houston. I shot two games of his team for MaxPreps and the link displayed both galleries (and pictures of him) under the teams home page.

I just sent a reply to his original inquiry detailing how to buy prints or images through MaxPreps. I hope he figures it out.

Sure had me confused for a while today.

It is interesting to see the kinds of things folks ask - I get similar emails ("do you have pictures of my dog, he was a golden retriever?"). The only thing I would have done differently is to not take him quite so literally. I would have said something like: "All my event shots are at xxx.com, and you can look up the event by date from there. My site allows online purchases, so you should be able to order right from there. Please let me know if this answers your question". Now I don't know if that would have answered that vague question, but perhaps it would have. And kudos for finding him and giving him specifics on the second email.

Thanks Dave. Since several of the other players have bought prints (or images), I guess this fellow thought he was going to get one free. I'm just guessing. No reply so far but he may have been using a school computer. I hope he figures it out.
