Reading this forum I'm seeing there are more Windows than MacOS users between the Canon users. I choosed a Canon camera because Canon is the brand that offers the best product for Macintosh. Most other cameras I know only have real software for Windows and the Mac drivers are of a questionable quality. I'm amazed because I know a lot of spanish Canon users that are Mac (and also Mac fanatics...) than Windows users.
Are you PC or Mac user?
Think different!

I love Macs, but have both at home. I use the PC for my photos because it's newer with a much bigger hard drive and has Photoshop, which I don't have on my Mac.

Strictly Mac here (currently G4 DP450) and have been for over 15 years...Have a Canon G1 that's about 1.5 years old but am upgrading to a D10 shortly, use a USB CF card reader to move images...I find Macs to be extremely user-friendly for graphics oriented stuff and that's what I use it for...

I used to be a Mac fanatic, but have since joined the dark side...I don't consider myself to be a Windows fanatic however. I like Apple's progressive thinking and cutting edge technology, but it seems to come at a heavy cost (either in price or in waiting around for the Mac version to come out.) I feel bad that Apple survives by gouging its loyal customer base (or by creative ways of avoiding payroll tax for their upper executives - j/k), but I can see that they are trying to expand their markets (e.g. the iPod.) Of course, Windows has its own share of problems in other areas...but my reasons for switching were more economical/practical than technical.
I'm really appreciative for companies like Adobe who do a great job in minimizing the differences between their Mac and Windows versions...I can do a Photoshop job on a campus Mac and come home to work on it more on my PC without having to keep separate sets of instructions. User-friendliness and graphics seem to be of the same quality on both versions.

I am a Mac User. I have been for 12 years. I would never switch. My Mac does everything I need and more. It is a great platform for artists.

I'm using a G3 Powerbook with great results! Got PC's at work and at home, but all of my imaging is done on the Mac. With the influx of software for Windows (who can really fight it?) it's a cost-effective way to go. Depending on what exactly you're doing, and how processor-intensive it is, the choice may not make a difference. It seems to boil down to a matter of personal comfort with the interface. Windows is, after all, simply an attempt to emulate the GUI developed on the Mac platform. Have fun!

Just wanted to throw that in for completeness. :)

I have a PC. This is my first computer, and I got it in November of 2001. If I had to do it over again... I think I'd get a MAC. Simply because I mainly use my PC for multimedia applications (photo/video/music editing), which, from what I understand, the MAC is more efficient at. I have done numerous upgrades since I got this computer, and I think it gets the job done for me though. Wouldn't mind having a MAC also however.

How many of you know that one of the first fully-fledged GUIs was on the Acorn range in the UK running RISCOS - before Windows 3.0 - on an ARM chip.
ARM chips were developed into the present-day Intel XScale and various versions run most of the mobile phones on the planet and lots of 'embedded' processors in all sorts of devices.
The UK were always good at being first but no good at development and marketing!

I have an older Dual 533 G4 and a new PowerBook 12" G4 and love 'em both. The only reason I would ever get a PC is to play Video Games, and luckly I don't play games at all, so I'll pass on Windoze!

I haven't posted here ( "The word is free") before. but can't pass on a mac vs pc thread :D .
I have both, an old 833p3 and a now old dual 800 G4.
I cut my teeth in dos thru win xp and then went Mac.( mostly osx ) I love the Mac and the more I use it the more I am amazed by it.
When I bought my D60 I was sorry to see all the good software for pc's, ( Breeze , C1, And a few others I read about.) But I have made do with FUV , ACR, Zoom Browser, and the Finder , and Pekka great actions,
My Mac smokes my Pc when running actions and most of my other editing in Raw and PS. I do admit to PS7 on the mac and ps6 on the pc though.
One thing though for PCs, they handle file managment way better and totally disrespect macs for ripping from CD's. Thought the superdrive is really solid but slow in comparison to my Plexiwrter on the PC.:p
That said... I am waiting to see what the G5's are going to do.But am very happy to use my G4 for now , Oh yeah it rocks in Final Cut Pro and Adobe After Effects Too:)
Peace
Eric
