Pheasant

Went camping yesterday, and saw this pheasant, so i took a couple of snaps

They were taken with my 500mm hand held, as i couldnt get my monopod at the time, as i would have frightened the pheasant off.

Those are great. I happened to catch a ring-neck yesterday, but from the rear. I was gonna post, just because it's an unusual bird on the forum, but yours is so much better, I'll forego this one.

That's a great shot. They are an unusual bird and we certainly don't see many of them posted. In the area where I grew up there were a fair amount and the government ran a hatchery for these and then released them before hunting season. I suppose it was their way of promoting tourism by getting hunters to the area. I hate to admit it now, but I have shot many of these in my younger years. Now I would love to be able to go back and shoot them with my camera.

I was camping, and this pheasant just wandered up to us as we were having our dinner. In the end then he was about 2m away from us, probably because i was feeding him some tomato.
