View Full Version : Bodyscapes lighting questions...

I have read through a few posts and they talked about ensuring the room is dark and all lights are off except for the ones being used.

The questions I have are:
1 - Are you using the same lights and you do for normal pictures or are you using much smaller or lower powered bulbs?

2 - I would think if using the regular lights would be too bright which makes me wonder how much work is done in post processing to add the shadows?

It really all depends on the look your after. For bodyscapes I tend to use one light , 10" reflector with a 30 degree grid. Sometimes though I will use a little fill and adjust the contrast to taste in post.

mfharper, would it be possible to show a picture with a lighting diagram, that would be very helpful.

Depending on the overall look of the image would depend on what modifier to use. Harsh lighting would obviously be bare bulb, and as stated above with a grid. Softer light would be either a softbox or stripbox, or any similar modifier. As for the desired shadows, its all about the light placement, much post processing should not be needed.

Take a look at this thread, it was from this section just a couple of weeks ago. I posted an example somewhere in there.
