I went with Tal to Cabarete for 10 days to finish this 2009’s year Surfing dominican republic, finish this crazy year in caribbean, what a dream

This island is located in Caribbean, eastern two-thirds of the island of Hispaniola, between the Caribbean Sea and the North Atlantic Ocean, east of Haiti. The town of Cabarete located on Dominican Republic’s Amber Coast is recognized as one of the world’s top destinations for wind driven board sports primarily kiteboarding and windsurfing. And don’t forget the surfing, the beach break is amazing and consistent everyday. So our special guest Susi Mai took us for a your to show us Encuentro and others secrets spots.

2 and 5 are good but 4 is soft.

He means out of focus, or not fast enough shutter speed... Not sharp. They all look a little soft to me, but that could just be down to the jpeg compression. ;)

I took those photos with my 40D, TV 1/1000 with Auto Iso
I guess the compression for this photo is too strong ;-(

Center point AF focus only
All on a tripod. Sharpness should improve dramatically.

Generally I hit those settings when I shoot surfers but on a tripod? I usually don't use one but does that make a difference versus just holding the camera?

At long focal ranges, yes. Any lens movement is not good. Its like trying to thread a needle with too much thread hanging from one hand.

Thanks for the tips. I've been using a monopod but will try the tripod next time i go out.
