Hi,
I recently purchased an Apacer OTG (On The Go) Steno CD211 external portable hard drive unit, for in-the-field backing up.

The guy at the computer shop - a business friend as it happens - 'tested' the device by directly connecting it to numerous digital cameras.

But, you guessed it, the Steno CD211 will NOT recognise my Canon 20D.

For the moment we are using a CF card reader to backup images and there is no communication problem between the card reader and the Steno CD211.... and the Steno CD211 is instantly recognised by Windows XP when I get back to the office.

If anyone knows of any particular problems with the Apacer brand name or the Steno CD211, I'd like to know please ?
Or even if the 20D has a lot of communication issues with a lot of external hard drives ?

Likewise if there are any software updates for the Steno.

Incidentally, the Apacer website is useless and of no help whatsoever.

Thanks

Doesn't the 20D have a communication option for Normal and PTP??? It needs to be in the Normal setting.

Still doesn't work ... don't matter wether Normal or PTP .... either way Apacer product is crap and if anyone from Apacer reads this get your act together and make a product compatible with
the 20D :) :)

Not trying to make your problem worse, but there is a compatibility list on their website and the 20D is not on it.

Try using a card reader to put those pix into the drive. Should be easy & fast.

Yep Gasrocks,
as I said above, I am now having to use a card reader ..... thanks for that compatability list ... I went all through the Apacer site and never saw that ..... oh dear .... guess there is a lesson or 2 in all this, like check the product out thoroughly before buying :)
