We were very excited when our daughter wanted a sewing machine for Christmas instead of the new DS or some other soon to be useless gadget. So far she has been diligent about getting in and working with it when she has some free time.
Here is a quick little set I took of her working today.

All taken at 35mm with available widow light. Her table is up against the wall under the window so I didn't have a lot of choice as far as angle goes. Behind me is an armoire with a TV and and a closet, so this was my only real choice.
Thanks for looking, comments welcome.

That's so cool. I still have my first sewing machine and it's still going strong. She looks very serious about what she's dong. Really cute photos.

Cute... :) PIllow cases for her bed?? She is so focused... too cute. So did you tell her to just keep working and ignore that you were shooting from the corner of the room?
Who else does sewing in the family?

I got to keep records of when they are sweet and still love me right? She is making a bag for one of her friends. We're pretty happy that she is learning something useful and practical. She still gets her video game and TV time though.

 I don't have to tell her to ignore me, she is used to a camera waiting to snap her picture.
No one in the house sews at all except for Lexi. My mom has done sewing projects when Lex went to visit before so I guess that was it. After we were sure she wanted it we didn't push anymore.

Now you need a shot of her holding the finished product:)

I have one I can process. There are some head shots posted with a weird little hat in another thread.

You better frame these and show her how she is a jewel.
My mom is a seamstress and I also saw her work and it was amazing and now I also sew.
It is an amazing feeling ot know your child asks for things like this.
Fill her up with fabrics and scraps! Why not have her sell some items at a festival? :)

Thank you, we have probably went overboard letting her know how responsible and original that she wanted to try to learn to sew.

I think the angle and the lighting worked out extremely well for you. Great series!
Can she make me some shirts? :)

Good for her! Our son and daughter (10 and 8) wanted cooking utensils for Christmas. I made them aprons for their birthdays. We spend a lot of time in the kitchen trying out new recipes. It's good to see kids who want to do more than sit w/ a game controller in their hand.

I got one 2 years ago. I made aprons for us and the kids. Still have to make one for our 15 month old, though. I've made scrubs for my wife and I to wear at work. It's actually rather fun learning to sew.
