550D this spring?

Any chanses of seeing 550D in stores this spring? I heard rumours saying that Canon will anounce two new DSLRs in February.

What do you guys think? :) I want to upgrade from my 450D soon, just to get video-mode! Of course theres always the 500D, but the jump to a 500D seems kinda small. And I have also heard that the camera has worse ISO performance than the 450D..

I bet a 550D would do the trick!

If Canon releases 2 new bodies anytime soon I hope it's a 1Dsmk4 and 60D... there are already 3 Rebels to choose from don't need any more! lol

Everyone's talking about the 60D being all the news these days. I saw some prototype/mockup and it looked stupid, so I bought a 50D for pretty cheap

what's with the nikon-esque red eye/af assist light? new text off to the side? probably not what it will look like, but you could drive yourself nuts always waiting for the "new model"

there are already 3 Rebels to choose from don't need any more! lol If they release another xxxD now, I would expect the 450d to be discontinued, and if its a xxxxD, theyll probably discontinue the 1000D

I wonder what the changes / improvements will be.

All I'm hoping for is better AF, and a swivel screen! (I do lots of low angle photography)..

And of course lower noise levels at higher ISO.

There won't be any 550D this spring. In terms of trends it's obvious the only camera that wil be coming out is the 60D. The 60D will be placed between 500D and 7D.... Hopefully 400/500 dollars less then the 7D.

Are you sure? I have heard that the 500D isn't selling well, and I have also heard that the IQ is worse than on the 450D. I have also heard that
Nikon D90 is Nikons counterpart to 500D, and that D90 is alot better! ..Again, this is just what I've been told!

But if that is true, then I think Canon should replace the 500D as soon as possible with a 550D.

I'm sure 500D is selling just fine, but they're probably selling more 450Ds due to the price. From the reviews I've read the 500D is basically on par with the 50D for image quality. It's better then the 450d but not by much, they are all pretty close.
Nikon's D5000 is the direct competition to the 500D. The D90 is a better, more expensive camera (in between the 500d and 50D).

everysingle thing you mentiond in this post is completely wrong.
from the sounds of it you don't own a DSLR, there is no reason the 500D should be replaced. I own the 500D and i compared it to my friends 50D/7D. For what you pay this camera is simply great.

There will be a 60D as soon as next month or the latest in April.

There will be another model as soon as Canon decides it's milked it's target profit from the current body. Isn't that how they make most of their marketting decisions? It's certainly not for our convenience or reasoning ;).

As for the OP, the new body waiting game never ends. As soon as the 550D comes out, surely the 60D and 600D are around the corner. And anytime you buy, before you know it, your camera is not the latest and greatest.

Well perhaps they will make a new Rebel that is smaller (no mirror) and would be either rangefinder or EVF (and live view of course). IF they could shrink it down to something close in size to the Olympus Pen that would be cool. They could come out with some more EF-S prime lenses which would be very small.

But even olympus released an EP-2 only 5-6 months after the EP-1. So those people that jumped on the EP-1 should have waited, right? It never ends. If Canon releases a new line, then do you buy the first, or wait to see what happens with the second release in that line? It's just a never ending game.
