Len''s filter trouble!

Hi Guys!

I have recently purchased a Canon EF 24-70 f/2.8L lens and was wondering why a B + W 77mm Pro MRC UV haze filter is not able to be screwed in completely but the same filter can be screwed in completely (to the hilt) on my EF 16 - 35? Is this normal? Doe the filter have to fit all the way onto the thread?

Presuming it doesn't just stop ie it slowly starts to tighten.

If it is secure, then it will not affect the performance of the lens. If it were a long way out it might cause vignetting at the wide end, but it would have to be a long way I imagine.

Sorted out the problem. Used another filter and it was able to screw in all the way to the hilt.
