I want to focus my attention on outdoor portraits for the time being. I am looking for any and all available information on this subject. (lighting, posing, equipment, backgrounds...etc.). If you have experience in this area or have read some good material, I would love to hear from you.

I have alot of good photography experience and I want to begin putting together a portfolio of male and female outdoor portraits. I have a few volunteer models that have agreed to work with me and I am just trying to polish my techniques. I am specifically looking for any help I can find on posing and fill flash. I have the 10d, 420ex, 17-40, 50, 28-135, and 75-300. Lately I have been shooting either manual or program with evaluative metering and no exposure compensation and set my fec to -1. This seems to be a step in the right direction, but I am still getting some shadows and not seeing that catchlight in the eye.

I will try to post some sample pictures soon. Let me know of any information you have. Thanks!

Mike

Search for the work of Monte Zucker and Dean Collins. Both were pioneers in high quality natural light and location portraiture and have written extensively on the subject. Check out the following books> "Secrets of Lighting on Location" by Bob Krist, " Hot Shots" by J. Barry O'Rourke, and "Photographing People for Stock" by Nancy Brown.

I've been away for a couple days, so sorry for the slow response. I have read all your post and looked some of the websites you've mentioned. I have talked to three ladies who have graciously agreed to be my models. I am going to the camera store in the morning to buy a stroboframe and off camera cord for my 10D. What other equipment do you think I might need???
