Hey everyone, four days ago on sunday I photographed three lacrosse games at a jamboree. 2 were my little brothers, and one was a girls lacrosse game that a friend of his was playing in. (My brother is the one in gold jersey, black helmet with red visor)

Anyway, this was my very first time shooting a live game. My only experience prior to this was taking a few practice shots at a practice. So, I think I did pretty well for my first time, but critique would be much apprechiated! Posting here is the best way to learn.:D

Also, all shot with my 20D and 70-200 f/4L lens wide open at f/4 and hand held.

Here are a few for now, I'll add more later.

Slight lack of head protection for the lasses ! A little unfair !

Yea, I know, but it's more than they used to have! I believe just a year or two back they used to play with nothing at all. There's no real contact in their sport anyway. The occasional ball to face, or stick to face happens, but no big deal. I find girls lacrosse very boring to watch and photograph because of that.

I'm surprised there haven't been anymore posts yet. Guess it's a dead day.

Anyone out there with something to say? I could really use some critique. Gotta learn somehow. :-)

Ah - since your asking... on my system, they are a little dark - blacks have lost all their detail. I like your first shot the best - good thing huh... and in typical Canan fashion - the reds are a tad heavy. Thats all the "bad" news I have for ya. Other then that - they are fine. Kids are just hard to shoot. The rest will come with doing more games. Don't be afraid to just get right in there with the action and filling the frame instead of relying on croping. Knowing just how hard this can be - you did really well.

Thanks croasdail. At least someone replied. They are pretty light on my monitor, but I'm on an uncalibrated UXGA laptop screen so.... maybe they really are dark. Donno, but I didn't do anything to them in PS except some cropping. (These kids are tiny, and even at 200mm they don't come close to filling the frame.)

Anyone else?
