Gorgeous color in this shot - although I would like to see some of the foreground detail.

Tim,

I REALLY like the second one better - that is exactly what I was looking for. More dynamic range so that more can be seen. When you have that much foreground in the shot - to me its a lot of wasted space if you cannot see anything in it. Good work!

For me, the second one works better also. Great color in the sky!

Nice shot. I think number two works best.

Thanks, Titus and GTogs. It looks like number two is going to be the most popular of the two. I think I will print both and see which looks best on paper.

Yep gotta' say I like the revised version #2, the colour of the sky is still there and there's plenty of detail in the foreground, nice pic.

I guess I'll go against the grain here and say I think the first one is much better. The colors in the second just look too washed out. I wonder if it's this monitor?

Number two has my vote. When you live in Vegas like I do you don't take advantage of what is around you. You always want to go where everyone else is.

I wonder if that is because there is less contrast between the land and the sky in the second version. The only change I made between the two was in the land. I didn't modify the sky at all, so the colors are the same in both.

That might have something to do with it. The foreground just looks too faded to me. That's not really the right word for it, but it's all I can come up with right now. I get the same look sometimes when I go too far with PCSC's "Shadows and Highlights" tool.

Thomas,
I think that is why I like the original better. There was quite a difference between the original and the final after using exposure compensation in C1. I think that causes it to look a bit washed out. However, I do see other's point that having something in the foreground helps.

#2 gets my vote, the first one is a little like on the "Dark Side of the Moon"

Great shots,
