Ryan,
I have been a college art professor and I think that this is part of the process as an artist. I feel that asking others to pick out your artistic voice is really not the idea behind this process. I know the recruiters from SCAG and they want to see and hear your artistic vision not what others feel is your artistic vision. Only you know why you created a photograph we can just look and say well this is a nice picture or this is technically done well. But for us to sort through your 1000+ photos and say here are the 10 photos that communicate Ryan's artistic vision is really not fair to you or to us. You have a lot of good photos on your site I think in your heart you already know which are the best. I would start by narrowing it down to at least the best 25 and then you need to look at those 25 and ask your self honestly why you choose them and pick the ones that communicate your vision best. You have been given this task for a reason they want you to start thinking about what best represents you don't push it off on others it will only do a disservice to yourself.

Pick your top 10 > create a flickr album and put them in there > then ask for our opinion.

You could just look at your flickr stats and see which have the most views.

If you're applying for school shouldn't you be putting in the work and select the portfolio pictures yourself? Your portfolio should be what you like, it's your vision, your style. Others can tell you if they like the pictures in your portfolio or not but when it comes down to it, you're the photographer, you make the decisions.
Pick out your favourites and then ask for opinions would work better.

Ryan, I moved this thread to the Lounge as it is really not how the SHARE forums work. The threads are started with up to 8 embedded or 2 attached images for people to comment on. Putting a whole gallery link is not how it's done in this part of POTN. I may move this thread to Presentation after a week, as that is the best place for it, but I will let others help you before moving it again.

Ryan, your portfolio is (or should be) totally personal. It should be your best work but with your own thoughts and style.
I would not just use the top 10 viewed/commented on on flickr because unfortunately a lot of flickr users (not all I hasten to add) couldnt tell a great photo if they were slapped in the face with it.
You should pick 10 images that you feel are special and be willing to break down the reasoning behind the photo ie I took this because........ and chose to over/underexpose it because......
What they will be looking for is that you dont take pictures at random and that you can critique

Okay so I've taken in what you all have said, and you're right. It should be MY vision. Also it's ridiculous for me to ask you to go through 1,000+ pictures and just choose ten-fifteen of them.
So, I've created a set titled "Portfolio", check it out for me and see what you think. I have 22 pictures in there and I need to narrow it down to about 15-17.
Thanks in advance

A boyfriend of a co-worker applied to an art school. The comments on his photo portfolio were that it was too "ordinary", too "common". He had great shots of protest demonstrations, rock bands, grungy looking friends, landscapes, travel shoots of Hawaii...etc.
This was an ART school not a travel/photojournalism school. They wanted shots of designs found in urban/natural settings, extreme/bizarre human contortions (or nudes), extreme perspectives and angles..etc. Go figure!!!
As someone else has posted, you've got to show your SELF in your portfolio and go with it. As you grow, your portfolio will also grow.
