I use a sling bag that has a Camouflage pattern to it and I want to attach lens pouches and other smaller cases to it. Problem is, I can't find any pouches or cases that are ACUPAT (Digital Camo) in color/pattern. There are plenty of bottle holders and such, but they are too small to carry any of my lenses. Any suggestions. My bag is MOLLE and/or PALS compatible.

Is the connectors on Lenscoat Pouches substantial? I noticed they are just single "belt loops" and look pretty flimsy. That wouldn't actually connect to my bag without some modifications.

Take a look at some of the military equipment supply places. The two that come to mind are Brigade Quartermasters (http://www.brigadeqm.com/cgi-bin/tame.exe/store/index.tam) and US Cavalry. (http://www.uscav.com/) If you look under "load bearing equipment" there are lots of pouches designed for different purposes in the ACUPAT pattern. These are mostly for things like magazines and grenades, but you might find there are usable as lens pouches.

Ranger Joes has a crap ton of ACU items. I don't think you'll find the protection from an off-the-shelf case that one designed for camera gear will give you. I was looking for gear in either ACU or MARPAT for the longest time and finally gave up. ATS Tactical (http://www.atstacticalgear.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?display=home) also has some gear you could check out. If you were that series about getting ACU rig, give Tactical Tailor (http://www.tacticaltailor.com/index.aspx) a jingle. Maybe they could come up with something custom.

I actually sent an e-mail to Tactical Tailor re: custom camera gear. Here's their e-mail link.

Crye Multicam is a very nice and effective pattern. I have a ballcap (http://www.atstacticalgear.com/cgi/commerce.cgi?preadd=action&key=10479) in multicam and I keep losing the damn thing.

The new digital pattern Navy Working Uniform is a real hit with the sailors...

I've seen that too. It's funny. The new pattern is designed to "hide" stains. They should have gone w/ an all navy blue working uniform like the Coasties did. I'm just glad that if I go back in, I'll get to wear the MARPAT utilities again.

Corpsman?

I kinda like the new NWU, but it likely means the Chiefs and Officers are going to lose their wash khakis. The NWU and the new service uniform are taking some of the distinction out of making Chief and I hate to see that tradition diluted...

I don't have to worry about ever wearing the NWU. I'm retired and over 60 years of age. They wouldn't want me...

Yep, corpsman. I agree with losing the identity of the chiefs and officers. I just wish they would streamline the seabag a bit. I had to build a new closet just to hold my uniforms. Let, see....

1. Dungarees
2. Working blues
3. Dress blues
4. Working whites
5. Dress whites
6. Coveralls
7. Utilities
8. MARPAT Utilities
9. PT gear

Am I missing any? At least I didn't have to cram all my crap into a sub. When I was in the army, it was Class A's, Class B's and cammies.

Didn't you have a Senior Chief avatar up a while back?

Here is the e-mail I got from Tactical Tailor:

You would need to have a drawing or idea of what you would like. We can build a back pack, fanny pack, or even pouches that would attach to a molle panel to your belt and leg. We would need to know what color. We have three kinds of foam we can use to protect items in our bags. If you have any other questions feel free to e-mail us again.

I might have a small custom bag done as a "glass taxi" type of bag and see what the cost would be.

No, I never went beyond E-7. I was Command Chief in my Reserve Unit when I retired and had that badge up for a while. Maybe that's what you saw. I was also a diver and I've used that for an avatar on occasion...

Awesome! I might have to email them. I hope their prices are competitive.

If you want something custom, you're going to pay for it. They're stuff isn't outrageously expensive, but their custom stuff can be. Just a head's up.

I'm not sure how you would like to attach it to your bag but the LensCoat LensPouch for the 24-105 would be a Medium Wide http://www.lenscoat.com/lenspouch-medium-wide-p-474.html and the flash would fit in the FlashKeeper http://www.lenscoat.com/flashkeepersuptmsup-p-467.html each has a good belt loop and a heavy duty snap hook. I've had no issues attaching these to my belts or vests for long hikes. The LensPouch also has a reinforced bottom for extra protection and support.
