Great shots, the colours in the first one look great and the there's hardly any barrel distortion. Was it your 10-22 or the 17-40? The second one shows the high density of the buildings very well.

Those are fantastic! I love the first one - the reflections off the sky and water are just beautiful! The second one is marvelous as well, although the reflection of the tall building in the one to its right is a bit distracting.
Great job!

foxbat: These were all taken with the 17-85, which I just bought... The 17-40 might be getting eBayed soon, the 17-85 is very nice!
Here's another one:

Great shots, I love nightime cityscapes and the first shot is certainly a goodun! :D
Slightly off topic, but I notice you have a 24-85 in your kit list, how are you finding the 17-85 compares?

Well, I was never unhappy with the 24-85, but I wanted wider angle when I switched to digital, so I got the 17-40. The 17-40 is a big improvement over the 24-85, and I've shot a few tests to compare the 17-85 with the 17-40, and I'm really having trouble telling the difference. So, the 17-85 is certainly better than the 24-85. The extra zoom range makes it perfect for when you only want to carry one lens.
I got the 17-85 in HK with the intention of either selling it when I get home, or selling the 17-40 when I get home. Right now the 17-40 is looking at the door, but I have to make a few more tests to be sure...
I should also say that the filters I have for the 24-85 can be used on the 17-85 as well, which is another point in its favour! (both have 67mm thread)

Cheers for the info scr7b, appreciate it. I really like my 24-85 but I agree sometimes you need wider. I also like the idea of the IS for low light situations and getting some motion blur without resorting to using a tripod. Being able to use my existing CP is an added bonus too! I keep reading good stuff about the 17-85, I might just have to see if I can try one for myself. Thanks again.

Nice shots of HK. It is a superb place to go to. I will be heading these this weekend to buy a 20D. For me its only an hour away!! I have spent many hours looking at that same picture of yours.

Well it looks like we'll just miss each other! I'm back in HK now, but travelling again to Shanghai on Friday!
I couldn't resist another go at the city skyline, so I took this one tonight:
