I've looked on the mighty google and i can't seem to find a answer to my question and thought someone might have tried what i'm trying to do.

I'm trying to sync up my iphone, Home computer and work computer all together so if i make a change on one it will updat the other two, and i was wondering if this is possible on Google Sync?

I currently have mine setup through google and gmail... it syncs my calendar, contacts and email (also nice that through Google I've subscribed to my wife's calendar, so it updates that too. I can easily go to the ipod calendar and see both of our schedules at a glance.

You can set up exchange server through outlook too... I did that with my work account for awhile... but missed the ability to sync my wife's calendar also. Unfortunately, with Iphone/Ipod touch you can only be using one exchange server account... so I ended up using my personal gmail's Google Sync exchange server, and have my work email accsessed as a POP account (unfortunately no calendar/contact syncing for my work email this way.)

So from home are you accessing your work account using exchange? (Does it update immediately between the two?) If so, you should just be able to setup the exchange account on your Iphone, set it to sync mail, calendar, and contacts ONLY (it will not work properly with TASK's syncing enabled, IIRC) and enable push or fetching as you desire.

Thanks David,
I'm only accessing my work computer from Work, and home conpuer from home, i'm not worried about actually accessing my work emails via the iphone, just syncing the calendar and contacts. So my work, home and ipone contacts and calendar synced together.

Another spanner is i don't actually use gmail or google mail, i have my own imap email and hotmail, so i would only be using google sync as a sort of hub - i'm pretty sure i'd need to have a gmail account to do the syncing which is no problem.

Ok, in that case I wouldn't even consider google sync...

I did a search for what you're trying to do and came across this, perhaps it will help:
http://ciappara.wordpress.com/2008/08/24/sync-outlook-with-windows-live-calendar-for-free/

Read through the comments too, many saying it doesn't work as expected, but about halfway down someone explains how to do it. (Feb 3, 2009 post by Chuck - to help you find it.)

True, if using all gmail its simple.

I think OP wants to mesh up his work email from outlook (likely company email address) with his home email through windows live (or hotmail.)

Iphone won't even let you have 2 exchange accounts, so it requires some type of workaround... even if it did allow two separate exchange accounts, the calendars and contacts are still seperated based on accounts and just overlays them on top of each other... it doesn't truly bridge the accounts together. (ie, at work computer you still wouldn't see your calendar updates from home... but BOTH would be visible to Iphone - theoretically of course.)

I'm not all together sure what you're trying to do. Are you trying to place your work contacts on your iPhone? If thats the case, I wouldn't. It would clear out your personal contacts and unless you had Admin rights (or an Exchange policy allowing you) you could not update or add new contacts. You'd be stuck with all work contacts and no personal ones.

Exchange allows you to search multiple Groups. Once an Exchange Server is added to the iPhone you can search your work email/contacts by simply clicking the + (recipient) then choose your exchange account and then search for work recipients. We have a little over 7600 contacts in our exchange environment - it would be silly to have all those on my iPhone :) (I did it once and it took 10 minutes to sync).

What you would have to do is use Exchange to manage your Calender and Email. Your personal calender could be used in whatever way you like and it would sync no matter where you were. If you have a personal email account you could add this too (POP for example) and use either on you iPhone. I have an Exchange, Gmail and Road Runner account on my iPhone and forward all my hotmail to my Gmail account.

If you could be a little more specific I could probably walk you through a setup that could work for you.

Work stuff mixing with home stuff sounds like a pita. There may be corporate policies saying you shouldn't, and firewalls preventing communications with the google cloud.

It's very easy to get google calendar syncing with an iPhone. The only spanner is trying to get your work calendar sync'd with google.

Thanks for the responces. I don't want to actually acces my email from home just my calander, and i only want ot sync my iphone contact and home pc contact, I didn't actually think my work might have a issue with it, thinking about it i think they might.
So i proberbly need a seperate calander on my work computer that sync's with my iphone and home outlook calander, and someway of syncing my iphone and home contacts as well.

It's really easy. Create a google calendar, then enter your username and password into the setup bit of the iPhone. Google has a guide (http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138740&topic=14252).

Once you enter the Exchange server information (ex. exch.work.com) your Calender will begin to sync automatically. I don't see your work having a problem with that since they would have to allow it in the first place. Just ask your IT guy for the address & domain or ask them add it to your phone. It only takes a minute. You wouldn't have to use your work email. The good thing about Exchange is you can manage your email anywhere - so your email wont build up on your iPhone if you never look at it.

If your company does not have an external Exchange email address (which I find highly unlikely) and you're considering going with one solution I would look into MobileMe. You will be able to sync your Calender and Email with PCs and Mac's - at work, at home or on the go with your iPhone. Buy MobileMe from Amazon or some other third party and save $20 or more. While you transition you could forward all your mail to your new account until everyone knows your new address.

Alternativly, you could go all Google as well with a lot less technical support (does Google even have a support staff? hummm), but it's free. You just have to hand over all your rights to privacy ;) You can Google for instructions on "Sync Google Calender with iphone" for instructions.
