whoa, nice clouds man. Is that colour natural, or post processed?

Wow, those are some COOL clouds! Beautiful and scary at the same time. Great capture!

Maybe try cloning out the power lines?

I only adjusted the levels and cropped it. The color was really like that! :)

wow, great capture of some very wild looking skies.

Pretty clouds! My feeling is to leave the picture alone, rather than cutting the power lines, as suggested. Without them, the picture would look prettier in an artistic sense. But I think I am of the school that says "This is the way it was - not perfect, but real life."

Woah... WOW! I find the powerlines slightly distracting, but the tree COMPLETELY makes the shot... imho. And the color is stunning.

Nice clouds ........i think they are called marmatus clouds(not sure of exact spelling)

Scary. I love the way the clouds 'dip down' from the sky!

I agree - nice shot but power lines are distracting. Clouds are mamantus, and can be quite ominous. For example, one day last summer, much of north central Illinois was covered with mamantus, and one rather well-known weather expert told himself, "there's going to be a tornado today." He was right. He related this story at the National Weather Service Severe Storm Spotter training that I attended this spring. Eerie.....

That's some sky :)

There's no nuclear powerstation nearby, is there?

Thanks everyone. It was quite a strange site. The tree is actually in my neighbors yard. Not sure what kind it is, but it's definitely photogenic. :)

Very good. I love how you've captured the mellowing colours.

Neat photo. Great color and drama! I think it would have far more impact if you could clone out the lines and the telephone pole. I know it seems like a lot of work, but it's actually not too hard to do, and I really think it would make a difference.

Ed, et all. I'm going through and trying to catalog my images. I worked on cloning out the power lines as you suggested.

Kenny,

Lookin' good! A little more work and I think you'll nail it. Looks better already.

Good job on cloning, Kenny. Something I have not tackled yet. You guessed well on what was back of the pole, for example.

Just because you can still see where you healed the image. You can't just paint over the lines once, you have to keep playing with it. Copy the image on a new layer (CTRL-J) before you start so you can undo or mask what you've done.

Also, the power lines through the tree is a dead giveaway. That's pretty tough to do and takes care.

Another thought... someday in the future there are going to be all kinds of pictures with power lines intentionally placed in them since there won't be any pictures of them for a long time.
It's a shame nobody likes having power lines in their images... there will come a day...

;)

Agreed. It'll be a nostalgia thing...

I don't feel I did such a bad job. I guess it's just me, but I don't think anyone who had not seen the first picture would even notice.

The areas circled in the red jump out at me. If you look at the original fix in those areas, something looks wrong right away.

Maybe not in the tree... but the X where the pole was looks very suspicious and is obvious. Perhaps your photoshop version was a bit better and the JPEG compression enhanced the flaws.

It looks like the Predator is floating there with his arms and legs spread open.

WOW! nice cloud Photo of what could be the signs of a developing tornado. Well done.

Whatever. I stand by my statement. I don't think even you would notice it if you hadn't seen the original.

There's other parts of the image that I did nothing to that look suspicious if you're looking for possible manipulations. Like the vertical edge on the left side in the center kinda buried in the cloud and that weird tree itself, for that matter.

Great picture, but as for any scene with nature... editing is not really the solution. Only time I believe in editing a picture is for more unnatural photos. (Ie: Glamor)

Solution to what? Are you saying it should stand as it was, power lines, antenna lines and all ? As far are the image itself, color, composition, etc. That is unchanged from what the camera captured.

Thanks Sandy, this was a very weird weather pattern, it wasn't really thunderstorms (maybe in Eastern CO), but it was overcast and dark, but when the sun set it was like the light came in horizontally and illuminated the bottoms of the clouds. I really, really really wish I'd been somewhere more photogenic than my back yard. :)

Alright... sorry I mentioned it.
Your cloning and healing is impeccable and I doubt anybody would notice that edit.
