I just got my 100-400L last week in time for a weekend at the Chincoteague Wildlife Refuge in Virginia. This is my first L lens; I bought it because I was dissatisfied with the sharpness of my old 100-300 USM, and now I'm very happy I took the plunge!

I second that thought on the Swallow photo, I'd be very happy to have taken that, well done and enjoy what is a fine fine lens :)

Thanks for all of your comments! I'm very pleased with the swallow photo, I think it shows the potential of my new lens, if I can take advantage of it. Here's a 100% crop, I wish all my photos could be this sharp:

the bird in the last picture has a weird lookin eye, nice shots.
