This is my first macro post of a newly sprouted hibiscus in my yard.
Details:
1/250 f4 50 mm compact macro lens, just cropped, no other post processing
Please critique and comment.

Not bad, but you need WAY more depth of field - try F22 or so. You'll probably need a tripod, and have the flower somewhere out of the wind. Also, there are millions of pictures of flowers, try and do something different. eg try a different angle, or take photos of only part of the flower. I have some ok examples, you can look at them here (http://www.mrwild.co.nz/Featured/Nature/index.html) - they'd have been much less interesting if I took a shot of the whole flower.
