Hi guys

I just bought the sigma 105mm macro non DG for my 20D from a guy who owns a 10D and have been using it with it. but i have yet to receive it.

I am aliitled concerned about something

My question is, i have heard alot of problems with this lens and some digital Cameras and have heard stories about having it needed to be rechipped. Now assuming that he has been using the 10D with it and has no problems, would that mean that my 20D will have no problems with it? meaning i dont need to rechip it if it works with his 10D?

And also, wahts the main difference between DG and non DG?

Thanks,
Henry

Check the Sigma web site. It is all perfectly clear.

I am aware of what they wrote on the site. But i want some hands on experiece from people. What they wrote in their website are just changes to their design, but does that translate to better performance? I know as a fact that the older version of the EF50mm F1.8 lens was exactly the same as the new version, yet it was said by canon that the new one is suppose to be superior interms of optics.

Anyone have any experiences with these two lenses?

Thanks,
Henry

Sorry, but your question wasn't clear: you asked for the main difference between DG and non DG and really, as it's a totally different lens, which you'll have seen if you went to the site and read the info, that's how I took the question.

I don't know mif it will work mor not. Sigma are verfy responsive in my experience and they will tell you, or maybe someone here has tried it.

Aussie Ron did a test on the old 105mm which you may find with a search and to be honest it looks Ok on there but nothing special. But the new DG is much better. I've had some nice shots and I don't know anything about Macro. Really sharp and dynamic. Glad I bought it for sure.
