How do people feel about this? I started a flickr and want to post on a few groups, but don't want someone to google my company name and get my stupid questions:oops:

Do other people use different names for posting? I see a lot of people here using company names and wonder how it works out

I don't often post links to my website on POTN for the same reasons. POTN and Flickr are tremendously well indexed by search engines, and if you use your business name or URL it'll be on the front page of the search engines when someone looks you up.

I always thought that was a good thing, though.^

Links to your website from highly rated sites like Flickr, POTN, etc are valuable for SEO. I suggest you don't use your company name anywhere you want to post particular stupid questions or particular bad photos.

As stated by Tim. Don't use your name anywhere you dont want your customers to see. Such as ,dont claim to be a premier photographer in your area on your site... then use a link from here to help in SEO... Then, when your customers search for you, they come here from a link to where you are asking that you are brand new and wanting to know what camera to buy.

In bound links are great. But you have to watch what you do with the contextual surroundings.

Well I don't tell anyone I'm a premier photographer, that is for sure LOL

But yeah some day I may want to make a few $$ as I enjoy photography and heck I can't always do it for free right ;)

I can't be like the chick on CL who is doing weddings without a camera yet, at least I have that, well I did and will again ROFL

I always thought that was a good thing, though.^

Not when you tend to pick fights and say stupid things, like me.

I'm basically at the top of most sports/performing arts photography searches in my area anyways, so I don't need a lot of help with SEO. That's one of the benefits of being in a sparsley populated area where almost no one specializes in the photographty fields that I'm in.

So you guys have two different IDs? One for stupidity and learning and the other for SEO?

I do

Set up a fan page as an artist or a business, whatever you want to do

I find photogs generally are artists, though, rather than professional businesses. Click the facebook link in my siggy to be taken to my facebook fan page.

Psst: Join. :D
