Hi all,

New to photography & the forums here but thought I would show a couple of shots I took of a Nankeen Kestrel. Any comments/criticism would be very welcome being totally new to all things photographic I need all the help/input I can get.

The first one was taken at iso800, 300mm, f8 & shutter of 1/500.
The second was iso 1600, 500mm, f11 & 1/1000

Cheers

Very nice shots indeed.
I especially like the second shot.
For ISO 1600 it's excellent. I take it you ran it throught Neat Image or Noise Ninja.

Very good.

These are great pictures - well done. What camera did you use?

Thanks for the kind comments,

No noise software used, I haven't got any yet. All I did was try to lighten up the birds underside as the shot was into the sun almost, was very overcast though as well. Oh I also resized the photo & compressed it so as it was ok to post it here. I need to get some more/better software for fixing things up, all I have is what came with the camera & an old version of paint shop pro5 for now. Is it really worth while to get noise software or better just to try to get good photos ?

Sorry, I don't know alot yet as it's all new to me still. Oh & the camera I am using is a 350d, I only got it a couple of weeks ago with kits lens & a second hand 75-300. yesterday I bought a Bigma :)

No noise software and it's 1600 ISO. Impressive.

Paint Shop Pro is good value for money, though Photoshop tends to be king ( but expensive ).
If you shoot high ISO a lot I would look at something like Neat Image or Noise Ninja.

The 75-300 is a bit redundant now you have the Bigma. If you still have it I would consider selling it and putting the money towards software or new glass.

Fabulous shots...

I've been after the American Kestrel for some time, but I've never managed to get close enough...
