Life Size Converter (with other lenses)

Just posted about this in the Sticky above (converters / extenders)

Does anyone on here use the Canon Life Size Converter ?

It is only designed for the Canon EF 50 mm f2.5 Macro lens
( if we listen toCanon ).

I have used this Life size converter for years and yet do not own the 50 macro

the results have always been great on quite a few different lenses.

Just recently I tried it with the 28mm to 70mm f2.8 L fitted to my 1D mk 2 .

thought I would repost here the links to 3 images to see what you all think.

if you own this life size converter, just try it, not on wide angles though (not wider than 28mm)


the pictures were all shot using a tripod/self timer...200 ISO... medium jpeg ... natural light.... 2 @ 44mm focal length and 1 @ 70mm focal length.

The results are wonderful and yet many people would assume (listening to Canon) it will not work .
Please try it and let us know.

Surely someone must use the Canon Life Size Converter.

No replies so far,

One more image taken with the 28mm to 70mm f 2.8 L and the life size converter.

just got the LSC and a 25 mm ext tube, will try it out hopefully this weekend and post a pic or 2

CDS is the guru on this one! check previous threads but basically it works like a combination exgtension tube and teleconverter. Can be used on any EF lens, tho Canon say it is for the 50mm macro only.

I have used the life size converter for many years, originally with my EOS 650 Canons.
Its a super bit of kit I shall never part with.

Back in June 2005 I posted some info to the Sticky about converters. at this time CDS kindly replied that he had not realised that it could be used with other lenses.

I recently acquired the EF Life Size Converter.

The EF Life Size Converter is an interesting little addition to any decent lens arsenal...
Contrary to Canon's claim that it is a specific part for use only with the 50mm Macro,... it will fit ANY EF compatible lens.

While it is true it will fit any lenses, avoid anything to wide angle say wider than 28mm.
also avoid real long lenses.
