Taken right before a cop and a bunch of park rangers yelled at me to get off the ice at my local reservoir.

Beautiful capture, quite a range of blues in the sky.

Very nice colours and glare. This must be very wide angle shot with the converging tree tops. Have you tried what it looks like when you straighten that out a bit?
BTW, cops and rangers are taking the fun away.... When I was a kid we dared each other to cross the ice until it broke and the last to cross one went through the ice... :) To encourage each other we put pennies on the far side. :)

I am usually bothered by images shot into the naked sun with the resulting blown area. Other than that it's a nice composition. You could have stepped a few feet further back so the stump in the foreground was not quite so large and dominate.
Were you able to tell what it looked like just after the sun dipped below the horizon or did you have to retreat to safe ground some distance away? With those clouds, I can imagine how the sun may have lit-up the sky and clouds with even more vivid colours with the corresponding reflection on the ice.
