Just depends on what you want the image to use for.... As a neutral decoration on a web site it is nice. But if you want to show the animal properly (is that a wild boar? - I am hopeless with flowers, animals and birds...) the original is reasonable - only shows part of the animal and makes me want to see more.

I love it. I'm not sure I have seen that before. What can I do to duplicate that effect on my own?

Hmm... I remember seeing that somewhere but I don't remember what it is called....

OP> I prefer the original too, but I do see the appeal of the altered one.

EDIT: After meditating and practicing my Google-Fu I have come to the enlightenment that the filter is called Fractalius.

Its a badger, I like the first one, it has a Lord of the rings feel about it.

Both of you, read the comments that came before, it was already explained how this was done. Look for my first reply.

Looks like an animal out of the avatar movie... I like the filter, but like others have said, it's no longer a photo, but digital artwork.

I'm a fan of both. Each is great in it's own.
