I'd like to use my tripod to mount my off camera flash (when I'm not using it for my camera) and I want to get a generic (cheap) bracket to attach to the clamp for the flash shoe. Are the any alternatives out there that will work with the RSS clamp? I tried attaching the flash shoe clamp to the bracket for my camera and it uses the same threading.

It's not that cheap at $32, but this should work:

scroll down all the way to the bottom and look for FA-CS3... or here's a direct link the the store section

I have a flash shoe bracket, so I am just looking for a cheap(er) alternative to mount that flash shoe on. I found a generic Arca-Swiss Quick Release Plate on ebay for $15. Do you know if it would be compatible?

Arca Swiss plates don't fit tightly in the RRS lever clamp but will work fine in the RRS screw clamp. I notice in the title that you are using a RRS lever clamp. I always found it odd that the bevel in the RRS/Wimberley plates is different from Arca Swiss, since aren't RRS using the AS standard?
I suppose that the flash is light enough that the plate doesn't have to be too tight as there will not be a lot of force or a very expensive lens at stake.

Just to bring some closing to this thread, thanks to everyone who shared. I ended up purchasing a Marumi clamp (arca swiss compatible) from ebay for about $15. It was a little loose going on to the RRS clamp however a little ducktape on one side of the clamp made it a very tight grip.
