While there is copyright protection there's very little a developer will do in the html that is original. Now while I've seen some instances of a complete copy and paste of peoples sites that's pretty much the only way that you'll be able to claim copyright infringement.

Interesting ...
Mostly I am interested in getting on the train that's going somewhere. Of course the station looks abandoned from here so I need to understand where that somewhere really is. The site I put together was based on a site for another artist. I did ask and received permission for using that site as a template. The real challenge I have is how far down the monkey hole do I want to go for yet another avenue of cerebral intoxication?

Regular copyright laws apply but the issue is rather complex since there is little in HTML that would be unique, especially in a site that is well coded using semantic HTML. The look and feel is easier to demonstrate a copyright violation. You can successfully get sites that copy that pulled down.
Frankly, in most cases it is more trouble than it is worth to go after copyright violators for anything other than images.
