Sad day - 2 items sent in to Canon

Yesterday sent my Drebel because the mirror stopped functioning and my EF 75-300 because the shutter/diaphram became frozen and would not reset even on a film body. I get to play the wait and see game from them now. Hope they get all these error issues ironed out by the time they replace the 20D.

My condolences.. If I were you (and this may not appeal to you) I'd go to Circuit City or somewhere and pick up a 20D or 350XT and use your credit card and keep shooting, then when you get your 300d and lens back, return it to the store. Not the most ethical thing in the world to do, but if you're ok with it, it'll keep you shooting in the mean time.

Finally got these items back today, fixed for free.

Drebel had the shutter replaced, and the lens had the diaphram replaced. They even say they cleaned the sensor and by test shots it appears to be clean. They are working for now. But just handling the Drebel makes me miss my EOS-3 that I had just gotten before the Drebel crapped out. So many more options, buttons, and features. Can't wait for the 20D's replacement, which I'll buy.

Circuit City charges a 15% restocking fee, at least that last time I looked they did.

WOW, took them 5 weeks to repair the lens and body.:confused: In HK is around 3 to 7 working days.

But guess what, It took Contax 8 weeks and USD400 to clean a 80mm lens. :evil:
