I had nothing much to do last weekend, so I decided to go spotting.
I uploaded 2 photos (The first 2) to airliners.net and they were rejected due to quality, and color. Do you agree with them or am I blind to see the terribleness? I also am uploading some others I like, tell me if you guys think they are good. Be honest and really critique them, Im going again tomorow so maybe I can watch out for them.

Gosh, they all look good to me. Nice exposures, focus sharp. Perhaps the crops were not what they wanted to see? Nicely done.

I can't see what quality defect they are looking at. The color, sharpness, and exposure are outstanding. They seem to be tighter crops thatn most pics I see on that site. That said, the close up detail and some the angles make them very compelling to look at. The detail is amazing.

Holy closeups and sharpness!

Incredible!

On a serious note, maybe the first one was rejected due to the artifacts left from saturating it. I think I can see some noise in it. They are very finicky over there and also did you check to remove dust spots with the "equalize" ?? That's the first thing they check for, even if they're invisible to the naked eye. Also give Jetphotos.net a shot... one of the guys on here (A2EVOMR) seems know how they like 'em. I'm sure others will chime in with some tips.... I'm don't even own a camera, yet, I just tag along with him.

Agree with rd757. The first shot is oversaturated and the sky shows noise from oversharpening.

But wow, those are some tack sharp REALLY close-up shots! Probably very little cropping? Would like to get that close to some planes and shoot! Cool stuff.

Nice images, but it's really not necessary to post almost 1MB files. Also, in the "Share" areas IMAGE POSTING RULES (http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=74718) only allow 2 attachments by the OP per thread, OR 8 embedded (linked) images, OR a combination of both totaling 8. (Maximum 1024 pixels on any side.) You can always just post a link to more, though, or better yet, post a link to a gallery so we don't have to click on each image link.
Some exceptions are group threads, like "Show Me...", "Post your best...", equipment reviews, Tutorials, etc.

Other than those three things...

Be honest and really critique them...

First off I do want to say your pictures are great, I am a huge fan of the close up shots and love to do them myself. Your pictures are your pictures and you edit them how you want too. I think with a lot of them your trying to take the processing a little too far. The hardest part is to figure out how the aircraft cataloging sites want them to be edited and thats how I will base my opinions.

#1: Is soft and is over saturated. White balance looks to be on the yellow side.

#2: Aircraft underside has a lot of grain, slightly over saturated. Your getting a little bit of edge softness, front of the aircraft is sharp, from the "W" in Airways onwards towards the back your getting some distortion.

#3: Reddish hue

#4: Edge softness on the left side of the aircraft.

#5: Looks good to me

#6: bad link, goes back to #3

#7: Too much contrast, over processed

#8: Blurry, over processed

#9: Reddish hue

#10: The engine area is really sharp, but a little blurry from the nose gear forward

#11: Great shot

#12: Same shot as #4

#13: Over processed, under side noise, little contrast.

#14: Over saturated, reds are getting a little pinkish

#15: Soft

#16: Crop is too close and cut the elevator. Yellowish hue.

#17: Over processed, reddish hue, edge softness

#18: Soft, crop a little closer to the right elevator.

#19: yellowish hue, sharpness is falling out again towards the nose

#20: Nice shot

#21: Another good shot

#22: Underexposed, soft

#23: Great shot

Keep it up and don't let a.net dicourage you. Might find some better luck with jetpbotos.net.

Thoroughly enjoyed looking through those. I love the sharpness on some of those close-ups.

On a side note, that AA 777 is quite dirty. :)
